Today I am introducing Lisa…
Lisa is one talented lady.
She juggles all the usual Mum duties, as well as being a solo business owner. Lisa managers all the inns and outs of her framing business, Three P’s Picture Framing.
It takes amazing skill and knowledge to do what Lisa does and she does it all from her own residence creating the most beautifully framed artworks, wedding photographs and other memorabilia.
She truly is one clever lady and a beautiful human, as well. I am very happy our paths have crossed.
So, lets break the ice and get to know Lisa a bit… Tell us a bit about yourself…
Favourite thing to do on a weekend?
Definitely camping with the family.
Most loved movie or book?
My most loved book is Angela’s Ashes by Frank McCourt. If you read this nook you will appreciate everything you have.
Coffee or tea or both?
Oh BOTH… although depending on the time of day.
I like to garden and drawing.
What you love most about your job?
The freedom to be creative.
Ok now we know a bit about you, onto your business Three P’s Framing…
When did you decide to go out on your own and start you own business and why?
I was searching for a new challenge, but still loved framing, so I wanted to stay in the industry. My own business seemed like the next natural step.
I wanted to create a framing business where consideration and care for peoples work was priority. The handling of work in a framed shop, I think, is very important.
What are some of the common items you frame?
Definitely artwork of all mediums. Conservation framing such as old documents and sentimental items.
What are your favourite items to frame?
Artworks. ANY ART!
Business brings its learns, what has been your greatest lesson to date?
How specific you need to be with your message. This applies with policies, marketing and operations. The more specific you are the less miss understood you’ll be.
What has been one of your biggest achievements so far?
Learning to push myself out of my comfort zone and chase what I am after. Being in business has helped me grow as a person and be confident in my decisions.
Having a business and a young family always comes with its challenges how do best juggle work and home responsibilities?
It’s always a struggle, especially working at home.
I don’t try to mix the two anymore. If I’m working then I am unavailable to the family. If I am in mum/wife mode, then the emails, messages can wait till later.
I try hard to be present in the task at hand and not be in to many minds at once.
I love that! Be in the present in the task at hand.
It’s so true that we think we have to be “unrealistic wonder women” can we just be what we need to be when we need to be it.
I’d like to thank Lisa for sharing a bit about herself and her business with us.
It’s extremely motivating to see small businesses going from strength the strength and supporting other independent businesses and artists.
Before I share where you can follow Lisa, I’d just like to also thank Lisa on a personal note, for the beautiful work she did on my Mum’s own memorabilia.
My Mum as a teenager was a Swimmer and with her sisters was apart of the Dawn Fraser Swim Squad. When she moved to her newly built home she found her old swim jersey, ribbons and photo’s and instead of being boxed away I suggested she place them up for all to see. We went to Lisa and she was so amazing and created such a beautiful keepsake of memories for Mum, that now proudly hands up for all to see.
A time in her life that is SO worth remembering. Thank you Lisa!
